Taste Tour Team - Ludwig (Taste Filmmaker extraordinaire)
Meet Ludwig / Filmmaker + Senior Guide
Born in Lebanon, Ludwig grew up in Beirut. He completed his Bachelors in Stage Acting there and he also met his wife. They moved to Australia together in 2002 and they are now living in Liverpool with their son. Ludwig finished his Masters of Fine Arts at the College of Fine Arts (now UNSW Art and Design), majoring in time-based arts. He is passionate about arts and food, as well as soccer and music. He’s been a Taste Tour guide since 2014 and he is now a Senior Tour Guide. You might find him on the Babylonian Delights tour in Fairfield or World on a Plate in Liverpool.
Why did you decide to join the Taste adventure?
Taste combines my passion for food, cultural diversities in Australia and people.
What skills, knowledge and opportunities has this experience brought you?
It broadened my understanding of culture people and food knowledge. It also gave me the opportunity to grow in my art practice and in my work in Community Arts and Cultural Development.
What are you enjoying the most about being a tour guide for Taste?
Meeting new people, sharing experiences and cultural knowledge and the performance aspect of it.
How do you think Taste makes a difference (both to the local community and the customers)?
It helps eliminate stereotypes and bridge the gap between communities through food
What else do you do when you’re not a tour guide?
I am a video artist, film maker, performer, editor and I work in community Arts and cultural development. Here is one of my projects.
Could we hear one interesting story about you?
Most of my arguments with my wife are about food. I can’t stand it when she takes shortcuts while cooking. I keep hovering over the stove telling her how a steak should not be flipped constantly or you rub sumac on onions not just throw it on. I eventually take over and “save the day”.
A last word, what are your hopes for the future?
I hope Taste grows bigger and bigger because it, the customers and the local communities deserve it.
